Holiday Lights Fun Run
What a wonderful experience! This is my second time putting on a fun run. I invited people to join me for a mile or a 5k to run or walk and enjoy the holiday lights around the area. There were probably around 20-25 people complete with kids (who were awesome). We started out at my house and did the lights behind us along the small neighborhoods around 47th, then ventured across Grove to see the lights in Donna and Ron’s neighborhood (we waved, but they didn’t see us). I just had a heck of a great time.
Roy had set up water, cocoa, cider, and tea at the end of the run. We all congregated out in our parking area in the front yard, since it was pretty warm after running for 30 minutes. Met a LOT of new people, and ran with some old friends.
Thank you to everyone who came! We brought in quite a bit of food for the food bank, no one got lost, and everyone had a wonderful time. I’ll put a count of how much food tomorrow. I know the food bank and OMCC will appreciate it.
I definitely want to do this next year. Maybe I can work with the city to set something up official, and let the neighborhoods know so everyone will be lit up. I ran with speakers playing Christmas music and we saw a lot of people who wanted to know what we were doing (we were all in reflective belts). Everyone I told about the run thought it was SO cool! People even honked and sang to us as we passed. It was REALLY cool!
