Why are some days so HARD?
Wiley and I went out for a longish run this morning. I was hoping for 13 miles, but would be happy with 10. It was a beautiful day for a run! About 20 degrees out, but sunny and clear and crisp. Unfortunately my legs must have been like “Well if you’re not going to let us run a marathon today, we hate you.” I was going to run Ghost of Birch Bay but I have a calf injury that is acting up, so thought it best not to. That darn calf bothered me on almost the entire run, AND I hit a wall at 11 miles which is like WTC? Really? I never hit walls…not even in marathons. I ended up walking quite a bit and called Roy to let him know it was going to take me longer.
Wiley was a good sport, and even was able to drink out of my water bottle…which makes me wonder if maybe the wall hitting was because I don’t think I drank even 1/3 of my water bottle. Hmmm. I did take 2 servings of Gu Chomps and 1 Gu, so fueling was fine.
Wiles and I stopped in at Petsmart where he got to sniff some cats, check out birds, and scare a little dog. He also got a treat, lots of pets from strangers, and I bought some treats to carry with us. He was wearing his handsome down jacket with a big pocket, perfect for treat carrying. He’s one tired boy, now. That was his longest run to date!
While the leg did hurt, it was still a good run. We took photos of the fountains, and saw some beaver damage (but no beavers). Lots of people were out taking pictures. Now I’m going to take a bath and then we’re going to see Princess and the Frog! Yay!
