Long run from Marysville to S Everett
I was having lunch with friends today so decided to go ahead and run from home to the Everett Mall to meet them at 1:30 for lunch. I intentionally left about an hour early so I’d have time to clean up some before they got there. Fortunately, I don’t really sweat much and usually look somewhat decent after my runs, so I put on a cute running dress and some running capris and headed out.
The first 5 miles of my run I recorded my next Podcast, and then checked it discovering I had somehow turned it off after 7 seconds. Okay then….the NEXT 3 miles of my run I recorded my podcast. I tightened it up some and didn’t have to pause so much for traffic as miles 2-3.5 are on the highway. I’ll get it cleaned up and uploaded asap.
I think I was about mile 9 when I spotted a bright yellow jacket running, and next to him a woman in a jacket. I had just been thinking about Larissa, a runner on DailyMile who lives in Everett, and lo and behold it was her. She didn’t recognize me (she wasn’t wearing her glasses, but it’s not like I’m some amazing beauty like she is) but I did recognize her. Seriously…she even looks good while running. I’m sure I looked like crap as I had no makeup on and earmuffs, hat, mismatched shirt over my dress, and jacket. She said “Cute skirt” as she ran by and I turned and shouted out, “Larissa?” She came back and we had a nice little chat on Colby. I met her husband, Rob, and we talked about Portland, upcoming Seattle, and then ran on. It was great literally running into her!
Not thrilled with my pace. Because I was messing with my podcast I went too long without a Gu, finally taking one at mile 8.5. Way late. Ended up taking another at mile 11 because I was dragging. Didn’t run intervals because I wanted to see how it would feel to just run through a long run without intervals. It was fine, most of the time, but I just had a few rough miles. Not “horrible” by any means. But miles where I was aware I was running, as opposed to watching the scenery and enjoying myself.
Ran through the arboretum at Legion Park (love it there…so pretty right now with the Fall colors) and then down Colby to the Interurban Trail, and ended up at the mall. Ran into TJ Maxx so I could buy shoes to wear to lunch (got some cute Sketchers, although they weren’t right for what I was wearing). Wandered through the mall a bit and freshened up some in the restroom.
Met Kathy, Laura, Terri, and Kris for lunch and gabbed and gabbed, as usual. Good times with them! I’m so glad we’ve all hooked back up again! Told Laura she’s running Rock and Roll next year…tried to explain the Koolaid thing, but was unsuccessful. Just mixed a little and passed it around.
Roy met me at about 4:00 and we went to see A Christmas Carol. Amazing 3-D effects and wonderful acting and story. It basically IS the original story…no cleaning up or dumbing down. Loved it. Wouldn’t mind seeing it again.
Long day, but a nice day. ![]()
I’m a little bummed that I didn’t make my 200 miles in 4 weeks goal, but I was sick a few days so I have to give myself a break. It’ll be my NEXT goal and I know I’ll get there.
