Early morning run with Wiley

Early morning run with Wiley…had a wonderful, introspective run. Listened to the end of Born to Run with sadness…that’s a good book and it carried me through many runs. Wiley was great today, only perking his ears at regular dog spots. He did see one guy he did NOT like for some reason…maybe it was the “I have a load in my pants” swagger, or the “I wanna be a gangsta” bandana claiming his bad assness, or the cigarette (Wiley is very anti-smoking) but for some reason his hackles went up and he didn’t do anything but kind of look at him like “Just try it, Buddy…I dare ya.” Of course he just ambled on by trying not to lose his jeans or his coolness…which frankly I think he lost a long time ago (the latter, not the former…thank heavens). We actually passed a number of people so it was strange that this one guy set him off. He’s probably got good instincts, which is why he’s my morning running buddy.
Off to work! 12k class tonight and another 5 miles under my belt! It will be running Mud and Chocolate this weekend, so Friday will be an easy night. I did have this insane thought while running…what if I ran 45 miles on my 45th birthday? It’s a thought!
