Speed work with the dogs!
I had planned a nice, short, easy recovery run to Starbucks to enjoy a scone and coffee this morning, but Wiley would hear nothing of it. He insisted on coming with me…I mean insisted. Anyone who knows Wiley knows he does NOT take no for an answer. So I geared him up for the run and Dash looked at us like “Okay, once again not invited to the party” so I got the coupler out and took them both. Wow! They were SO excited I didn’t have a choice but to run fast (for me)! They were REALLY good, though. The last mile was an 8:44 pace (plodder by some people’s definition, speedy by mine). It felt GREAT! My legs totally do not feel like I ran 20 miles yesterday. I think last week I ran over 64 miles with the marathon and the short weekday runs.
Best part of the morning, though, was waking up at 7:30 to the most BEAUTIFUL sunrise! I went out and sat on the porch and watched it, listened to the birds, and just was so thankful to have such a peaceful experience before the crazy day began.
