Woooooo hooooo Run!
Today was my first real run post marathon. I finished with a sore calf and sore left knee, so wasn’t expecting much on today’s run. I stretched well before I left, tossed on a knee strap and took off. Whoa! No pain. I don’t mean “it hardly hurt” I mean NO PAIN! So I decided to push it a little more…still no pain! Sweet! Ran mile one in a not very impressive 10:27.
Found a great groove, marveling at no pain and mile two: 9:30.
Mile three: 9:27
Mile four: 9:05!
Now those aren’t my best times ever, but two days after a marathon, those are astounding for me. I did have some stiffness return to the calf towards the end. (I had to stop because I was bonking. I seriously underate the day of the marathon and that can leave me wonky for a few days. I had a biscotti and coffee and was back in business for the last mile.) I think the stop stiffened me up a bit.
Yay! I love it!
