Another FAST (for me) Run!
Love it! Dropped the van off with Roy and took off slowly. About .2 miles into it I remembered how much I truly enjoyed my fast run on Tuesday and wondered if I had it in me again. It was hot but not too bad, so I went ahead and pushed on the gas a little until I hit a nice comfortable, but “pushing it” pace. I ran to the nail place and got my nails done. This time the guy who did my nails (who I really REALLY like) asked why we had forgotten to have babies. LOL! He always asks such PERSONAL questions, but then he tells me about his life too. It’s kind of nice. I like all the people there, but the men tend to talk a lot more because (he told me) they’re interested in learning the language.
My 3.18 to the place took 27 minutes. After sitting for an hour I wondered if I’d be able to pick it back up. I got up and going by half mile in and it felt just really REALLY good.
I think the reason I’m feeling so frisky right now is that last week I was sick every day from Monday through Sunday morning. I ran the half marathon feeling “okay” at times and really bad at others. I still had a great time. (I try not to let these Hank issues stop me, if possible.) My marathon was marvelous. On top of that I’ve had this torn gastroc that has bothered me off and on (mostly on) since June. Right now there is literally ZERO pain from it. In fact it feels insanely strong. I’ve run for a few months now being very aware of not reinjuring it, so most runs have had that body focus that comes with injury recovery. On the one hand it’s good. On the other hand, it’s hard to really LOSE yourself, or let yourself go.
So I think my body is in celebration mode right now. I so so SO want to run a marathon this weekend. I have my name in for the Tunnel Medal Marathon, but Roy and I have not had a day off together alone in over two weeks, and I really feel like I need to let him decide the course of our Sunday. I do have Portland coming up so I could save my long distance mojo for that…but dang I want to run long and hard this weekend.
