Morning Run

I love running in the morning. I love the smells…fresh laundry, clean air, bacon, bacon, more bacon. Today I dropped Roy off at work and left the van with him (he still isn’t supposed to drive). I took off and was in the zone. I saw the flock of pigeons that lives down the street (someone raises them) all fly out and circle around then sit on the power lines, eyeballing me as I ran under them. I saw a squirrel carrying a big, green hazelnut, then two squirrels on a roof obviously twitterpated. They both leapt into a tree 4.5 feet away. I greeted many dogs, a few walkers, and was greeted with a hardy “Good morning!” by a biker. I saw early morning gardeners and envied their gardens. I listened to “Born to Run” and dreamed about running in the Copper Canyons, then stumbled and remembered I was running in Marysville. I flaked and forgot to stop by a friend’s house to fix her printer…sorry Terri. I picked up every piece of garbage on my side of our street for half a mile since today is garbage day. It was a good run.
